W. John Short, Chairman & CEO

Mr. Short joined NutraCea as President in July 2009. He brings over 25 years experience and has held senior positions with consumer products and financial services businesses in North America, South America, Asia and Europe including President & COO of Hong Kong-based Esprit Far East Ltd., CEO of Dusseldorf-based Esprit Europe, CEO of San Francisco-based global licensing company Esprit International, CEO/President & COO of Joe Boxer, Inc. and EVP North America of Miami based Sunglass Hut International.

Mr. Short also spent over a decade in corporate banking, government lending and financial institutions lending with Citibank in New York, Venezuela, Ecuador and Hong Kong. Mr. Short graduated from Dartmouth College and the Thunderbird School of Global Management.

 

Leo G. Gingras

Leo G. Gingras, President & Chief Operating Officer

Mr. Gingras most recently served as Vice President of Soy Processing and Technical Services at Stuttgart, AR-based Riceland Foods, Inc., a farmer-owned cooperative engaged in the processing and marketing of rice, soybeans and wheat, with annual sales of $950 million and a workforce of 1,800. In that capacity, Mr. Gingras managed business units with sales of over $320 million and a workforce of several hundred.

He was responsible for research, quality and workforce development. He also developed and marketed new products, as well as developed and executed strategic plans for value-added rice products. While at Riceland Foods, he held a variety of integral positions, which included Division Manager, Manager of Oil Operations and Quality Assurance Manager.

Prior to Mr. Gingras' employment at Riceland Foods, he was Research and Development Manager at Lou Ana Foods, Inc. (Opelousas, LA), a company that processes, packages and markets edible oils, with annual sales of $120 million and recently acquired by Ventura Foods Inc.

Mr. Gingras holds Master of Science and Master of Business Administration degrees from the University of Louisiana Lafayette and a Bachelor of Arts Degree with majors in chemistry and biology from Saint Anselm College.

J.Dale Belt, CPA brings over thirty years of experience in finance and accounting including strategic planning, due diligence, cash flow analysis, financial forecasting, and SEC reporting issues. Prior to joining NutraCea on June 15, 2010, Dale was the Managing Director of Sierra Consulting Group’s restructuring practice based in Phoenix, Arizona. Prior to that he was a Director and Managing Director in the restructuring practices of PricewaterhouseCoopers and FTI Consulting, Inc., respectively.

Before beginning his consulting career as a turnaround and restructuring professional, Mr. Belt spent over fifteen years in the private sector where he held various senior management positions including treasurer, CFO and president. His significant industry experience includes, among others, heavy manufacturing industries, wholesale/retail food manufacturing and beverage marketing and distribution.

Mr. Belt has a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Kentucky. He is a Certified Public Accountant in Kentucky and Arizona, as well as a Certified Turnaround Professional and Certified Insolvency and Restructuring Advisor. He is a current member of the Turnaround Management Association and served as the Arizona Chapter President in 2007 and 2008. He is also a member of the Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Advisors.

Kody Newland, Senior Vice President of Sales

Kody Newland oversees all sales-related operations for NutraCea's food ingredient, consumer and equine divisions. Mr. Newland brings nearly three decades of sales and marketing experience in the private and public markets.

Previously, Mr. Newland was Vice President of Sales for American Modern Insurance Group Inc., a subsidiary of The Midland Company. There, he was responsible for making American Modern Insurance Group one of the most profitable and fastest growing subsidiaries.

Earlier, Mr. Newland was Senior District Manager for Foremost Corporation of America (now a division of the Zurich Company), where he led the creation of new markets. He was also Regional Marketing Manager of the American International Group (AIG), leading sales operations in the Southeast Asia region, which included Hong Kong and Indonesia.

Throughout his career, Mr. Newland has also held various consulting responsibilities, which have included facilitating several mergers and acquisitions, creating distribution channels and launching new products.
